Kohsetsu Imanishi
Although he stands on tradition, he pursues his own unique way of sound without fitting into the framework of genres such as classical music, improvisation, and jazz, and plays in a way that captures and depicts the spaces between. In his project ``SOUND QUEST,'' he continues to explore the relationship between performance space and sound, and the various possibilities of the koto that are unique to modern times. There are also many collaborations with movies and companies. In 2017, together with the French duo Rhizottome and visual artist Akito Sengoku, they performed ``The Gardener's Dream'' in four cities in France, including two national theaters, and received a great response (Japan Foundation Grant Program). In the same year, his first album ``Hisiro no Ame'' was released by Jazztronik Ryota Nozaki's music culture project musilogue, which received high praise at home and abroad. In addition to solo activities, he is active in multiple units including "Shoji no Ana", a trio with Peter Evans/Tp and Takashi Ishikawa/Sho, and "Tanzaku". Using original playing techniques, the tranquil and colorful tones produced from a single koto bring a fresh experience to the listener.
